What Is First to the Field?

First to the Field is our early opening weekend for families who like to get Christmas started properly. Before the December rush, we let you explore our Grappenhall fields and choose from all the real Christmas tree varieties we grow on site. You pick the tree you love, we tag it in your name, and we keep it here until your chosen collection or delivery date.

This is the best way to secure the most even-shaped Nordmann Fir, the most fragrant Norway Spruce or a neat Fraser Fir before everyone else visits later in November.

  • Dates: Sunday 16 November 2025, 10am to 4pm
  • Where: Grappenhall Christmas Trees, Broad Lane, Warrington WA4 3ET
  • Booking: No booking needed – just turn up.

Our full Christmas season then opens from Friday 21 November 2025. You can see opening hours and late nights on the Opening Dates page.

Why Come Early?

First pick of the best trees. Early visitors enjoy the widest choice – from tall statement trees to smaller family-friendly shapes. The most perfectly shaped Nordmanns and Firs often sell out before December even begins.

Fresher for December. You tag your tree now. We keep it here and cut it closer to your collection or delivery date, meaning better needle retention and that unmistakable Christmas scent all season long.

Peaceful, festive atmosphere. Mid-November is calm, ideal for family photos, hot chocolate in hand, and for making the day you choose your tree the real start of Christmas.

Easy local delivery. If you don’t want to carry your tree home, we’ll deliver it. Read more on our Delivery page.

What Happens After First to the Field?

The following weekend we run our SustainabiliTREE event on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November 2025. Buy your Christmas tree and take home a mini sapling to plant, or have one planted here in Grappenhall – a lovely extra if you want a greener Christmas.

Can’t Make the Weekend?

You can still order online and choose a delivery slot via our online shop. Visiting in person is still the nicest way to do it – you’ll see the whole field and find a tree that feels right for your home.

Make It Your Family Tradition

First to the Field is designed for families who want Christmas to feel special again. Come to Grappenhall, walk through rows of fresh trees, tag the one you love and collect it when your decorations go up. It’s simple, local and personal – exactly how Christmas should be.
